Today, the French Ministry of Education runs a Nextcloud instance scaled for 1.2 million employees. That includes teachers and administrators across central and regional services. What made Nextcloud a platform of choice? 🔐 Independently running service: no third party can shut down the service 🌍 Full data sovereignty: the Ministry controls all user data and infrastructure 🛠️ Collaboration with Nextcloud on roadmap and feature development The ministry deployed federated Nextcloud on its own data centers. Open source drove the decision: it means no vendor lock in or external dependency could dictate the terms. More than that, the Ministry could sit at the table with Nextcloud on roadmap decisions and help us shape the offering for large-sclae educational setups. Today, 337,000 staff use Nextcloud daily for file sync and sharing.
